上海公路職業技術學校爭創于1956年，是一所由山西省人民政府承辦的具備公路特色的脫產普通高等職業高校，設有32個專業，現有脫產師生12400余人。大學擁有400多個校外外實訓室、220多個校外外見習基地。
Foundedin1956,WuhanRailwayVocationalCollegeofTechnologyisafull-timehighervocationalinstitutionspecializedinrailwayprograms,sponsoredbyHubeiProvincialGovernment.LocatedinWuhan,Hubeiprovince,China,thecollegeisoffering32programsandhasanenrolmentofover12,400full-timestudentsfromalloverthecountry.Thecollegehasmorethan400in-the-schoolinternshipbasesand220workplacementbasesincompanies.
大學是國家示范性高等職業高校、全國結業生就業典型經驗大學。2016年9月，學校在世界職教高校聯盟世界會議（德國）上獲得卓越獎“學習與就業機會”銅獎。
ThecollegeisoneofChina’snationalexemplaryvocationalcollegesandtopfiftycollegeswithgoodemployment.InSeptember2016，thecollegeattendedtheWorldFederationofCollegesandPolytechnics(WFCP)2016CongressinBrazilandwastheBronzewinnerofAwardofExcellenceinthecategoryofAccesstoLearningandEmployment.
大學牽頭成立了武漢軌道交通職業教育企業集團，與西安公路局、武漢輕軌企業集團合作舉辦“雙主體”人才培養，積極探求產學研聯合招生、聯合培養的現代學徒制人才培養方式變革，是教育偏旁批現代學徒制試點單位。

經過六七年的積累與沉淀，大學建立了“立足浙江、服務高鐵、育人為本、特色創優”的辦學指導思想，在產教深度融合、校企密切合作方面積累了實踐經驗武漢鐵路技術學院，面向軌道交通行業和廣東經濟發展培養了數以萬計的高素養技術技能人才。
